A growing tradition of service through music.

The Beginning

Musicians of the Hearth was founded by Chengmin Xu with a vision of bringing music, companionship, and joy to seniors through live performances. What began as a small student initiative quickly became a meaningful tradition of service through music.

Growing Together

Chengmin Xu, Cindy Yang, Ben Zheng, and Chris Chen expanded volunteer participation, strengthened partnerships with senior living communities, and built a strong foundation for future student leaders.

A New Chapter

Leadership transitioned to Ben Zheng and Yunfei (Sophia) Wang, who now serve as Co-Executive Directors. Together they are strengthening community partnerships, expanding volunteer opportunities, and modernizing the organization's digital presence.

More bridges across generations

Musicians of the Hearth continues to welcome passionate student musicians who believe music can inspire compassion, friendship, and lasting community connections.

Activity Director

"Music brings back memories. When students perform familiar music, it feels like sharing our stories with a younger generation."
